Thomas Joseph was born in 2006 in Makira village, Mfangano East location, on Mfangano Island. He is the third born child in a family of 5 children, three girls and two boys. Both of his parents are alive. His father, who is the breadwinner, works as a fisherman. The seasonality and inconsistency with fishing sometimes proves to be very difficult for this family. When the catch is low for a season, Thomas’ father struggles to provide three meals as well as pay for school fees for his children.

His older two sisters, Anastacia and Beatrice are both in high school, grades 12 and 10, respectively.  His younger two siblings, Phillip and Ruiza are in primary school, grades 4 and PP2.  Thomas was learning at Lion of Judah before joining GGCC.

Thomas was admitted to GGCC in March of 2022 in grade 8 as a vulnerable child. He is so happy and excited to learn at GGCC, especially in a boarding school.  He enjoys the learning facilities like the library and unlimited lighting.

He knows that while at GGCC, he will learn without interruption, and he will have access to the scholastic materials he needs to complete his courses. He will also get all the three meals and sleep well on a bed. This will help him to concentrate on his studies and become a journalist in the future.

During his leisure time, he likes playing soccer. He is in good health. He reports that he is a Christian.
