Benedict was born in 2007 in Wakiangata Village, in Mfangano East location.  He is the youngest child in a family of six children. He lives with both of his parents. Benedict’s father suffers a rare skin disease that renders him unable to provide for his family. His mother takes care of the family by doing menial jobs including breaking boulders to make construction ballast. However, the income she earns if often not enough to provide for both the basic needs and educational needs of her family.

Benedict’s siblings include two older sisters, Sophy Adhiambo and Monica Achieng who are both married, a brother Zadock Onyango and sister Sylvia Anyango who are in the local school and Veronica Adhiambo who attends Gethsemane High in grade 11.

Before joining GGCC, Benedict faced challenges with staying in school. There were times when his mother did not have the funds to pay for him to attend, nor pay for school supplies and uniforms. He often went without and this caused him to struggle mentally and academically in the classroom. And physically he has been lacking as usually the family only takes two meals a day.  

Benedict joined GGCC in 2023 in grade 9 as a vulnerable child. His parents are so grateful for the chance granted to their son to learn at GGCC.  Benedict likes the school environment, which is peaceful for learning.  He believes he will achieve his life’ dream of becoming a doctor. He loves mathematics as a subject.

While at GGCC, Benedict will not miss classes due to school levies and will enjoy the full benefits of the resources found at GGCC. He is in good health.
