Asha W. 1642

Grade Male: Kindergarten - 8th Gr.

School Grade 4

Asha was born in 2012 in Lukoma village, Wakula North location. He is the last-born child in a family of four children. His mother passed away after an epileptic episode in the river and left he and his siblings under the care of their father who is a peasant farmer. Peasant farming is dependent upon the rains and unfortunately at times, it is a real struggle for him to provide for his children. Asha’s father also has health concerns to deal with on a daily basis.

Asha and his siblings have missed classes when their father did not have the money to pay for them to attend school. There have also been times when they could only afford one to two meals a day for their family and sometimes only porridge. They do have shelter as his father has an iron-roofed, mud walled house.

Asha was learning at Gulwe Primary School before being invited to attend GGCC. He attended with one of his brothers, Brighton, who is in 7th grade. The oldest sibling is in the 9th grade at Nyabola Secondary School.

Asha was admitted to GGCC in 2022 in grade 2 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. His father is very grateful to God and the management for the opportunity for Asha to learn at GGCC. Asha is equally happy. This will help Asha to learn without missing classes due to lack of school levies and scholastic materials and this will help him concentrate in his studies and be able to meet his life’s dream of becoming a teacher when he grows up. During leisure time, Asha likes playing soccer with his peers. He is in good health.
