School Grade 2

Adrian is the second born child in a family of three children. He was born in 2015 in Ugina village, Mfangano South location. Both of his parents are alive. His father works as a fisherman but struggles with alcoholism. His mother is a housewife and does not work. So when the father spends his income on alcohol, the family is left in a desperate situation. Adrian’s mom left at one point in time but was encouraged to return to her family to help her children. She does as much as she can on the meager income she earns, but it is often not enough to sustain her family. Her children have missed out on school when they were unable to pay for their fees. She does her best to provide the food they need, but it’s often not enough either.

Adrian’s older brother Glen is learning at Ugina Primary School in PP2, while his younger sibling, Samson is too young to attend school. Before joining GGCC, Adrian was learning at Ugina Primary School in PP1.

Adrian was admitted to GGCC in August of 2021 in PP1 as a vulnerable child. The mother was not able to afford the personal items for Adrian but thanks to the support of well-wishers, she was able to get him the things he needed to start. Adrian’s mother knows what a great opportunity this is for Adrian. She is so thankful to the vetting committee at GGCC for considering her child for enrolment. She knows this will relieve some of the burden that has been placed on her.  Adrian is equally as excited to learn in a boarding school. At GGCC, he will not miss classes and or food as at home. He will attend all his classes and take three meals daily.

Adrian is fond of molding and singing. He has the ambition of becoming a doctor when he grows up. He is in good health.
