School Grade 4

Macrine was born in 2011 in Wakiangata village in Mfangano North location. She is the fourth born child in a family of five children. Both of her parents are alive, but both are HIV positive. Her father, who is the breadwinner, earns a living as a fisherman. However, this job is not steady and is highly dependent on the season and catch. This often cause the family to struggle financially. Without steady income, the parents struggle to provide appropriate food and payments to maintain the kids’ education. All of them, including Macrine, have missed school, causing their performance to drop.

Macrine’s oldest brother, Fredrick, is in grade 8 at Friends Academy in Opapo. The second and third born, Wendy and Clinton, are learning at Kakrigu Primary School in grades 5 and 2. The fifth born, Annastacia, is too young to attend school.

Before joining GGCC, Macrine was learning at Lion of Juda. Macrine was admitted to GGCC in January of 2020 in grade PP2 as a vulnerable child. She is so happy to join GGCC where she will learn without any interruption of missing classes. Her parents are equally happy and are grateful to God and the administration for this opportunity. Macrine would like to become a teacher. During her leisure time, she likes playing hide and seek.
