School Grade 12

Rolex is the second born child in a family of four children. He was born on August 12, 2008 in Wakinga Village, Mfangano Island East location. His father passed away in 2012 from a heart attack and Rolex and his siblings were left under the care of their mother. His mother works as a peasant farmer, which is not a sustainable form of income. Farming is seasonal and very weather dependent. Unfortunately, this family has struggled mightily with meeting just the basic needs. They have often had to depend on relatives and neighbors just to put food on the table. Rolex and his siblings have also missed a lot of school when they could not afford to pay the school fees. They missed classes often when they have not had the money to pay for the school fees.

Rolex’s older brother Fredrick is in college. Brian and John attend Sena Primary School, where Rolex was attending prior to joining GGCC. Rolex scored 321 marks on his national exams for 8^th grade. This was high enough to qualify him to join the high school in 9^th grade at GGCC. Rolex and his mother are full of gratitude for this opportunity to learn at GGCC. Rolex likes the school environment as well as the spiritual component offered at the school. He knows that he will be able to attend classes without the fear of being sent home and that he will also get three meals a day. Rolex plans to work hard in his studies and would like to pursue a career in medical engineering. His best subject is chemistry.

During his leisure time, Rolex likes playing soccer with his peers. He also likes music. He is in good health.
