Polycarp was born in 2007 and comes from Nyakweri Village of Mfangano Island. His father’s name is Kennedy and his mother’s name is Hellen. Polycarp currently lives with both of his parents. His father is the breadwinner of the family and works by fishing in Lake Victoria. Fishing is seasonal and unpredictable. This often puts the family at risk and they have struggled to meet the most basic of needs. In addition, both of his parents have health challenges, which presents a different struggle. If they are unable to maintain their medication and drug treatment, they find themselves sick and unable to care for their family. At times, the family only takes two meals a day because there just isn’t enough.

Polycarp is the first-born child in a family of two children. His younger sibling is Julyne Adhiambo. They both attended Nyakweri Primary School. Polycarp took the national exams and completed the 8^th grade, before joining GGCC in 2022. He joins the 9^th grade class as a vulnerable student. This is a great relief to his parents and they are all grateful for this opportunity. Polycarp would like to become a doctor one day. He will work hard and concentrate on his academics. He no longer has to fear being sent home from school when they didn’t have the money to pay the fees. He will get three meals a day also at GGCC.

Polycarp will not only get a quality education, but also the spiritual nourishment he has been missing. He has already shared that this spiritual training is changing his character. We pray that he will finally give his life to Christ. During his leisure time, Polycarp likes playing soccer.
