Denzel Roy was born on April 8, 2013 in Yokia village, in Waware sub location, on Mfangano North Island. He is the first-born child in a family of three children. His father who worked as a police officer while his mother was attending college. Denzel Roy’s father recently died after a short illness suspected to be Covid 19. This left Denzel Roy and his two siblings under the care of their mother and grandmother whom they had been living with prior to his father’s death.

Their mother is not working and does not have any formal income coming in. Their grandmother is a peasant farmer, but this does not bring in a lot of income either. Since the death of their father, this family has really struggled to meet both their basic needs and pay for school. Denzel Roy has missed quite a bit of school lately and this has impacted his academic performance.

Denzel Roy was learning at Masisi Primary School before joining GGCC. His younger brother, Junior Kings and younger sister Queen, are enrolled at St. James School in PP2 and PP1. Roy was admitted to GGCC in 2022 in grade 3 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. He is so happy to join GGCC.  His grandmother is so grateful to God and the management for considering Roy to join GGCC. Roy is so excited and happy to join GGCC. He likes the school environment which is so conducive for learning. He also likes his fellow pupils who are so friendly. At GGCC, Roy will learn without missing classes.

Roy would like to work hard to become a pilot when he grows up. His best subject is Kiswahili language. During his leisure time, Roy likes playing soccer with his friends at school. He is in good health.
