David Owuor is the only child in his household. He was born out of wedlock in 2009 in Nyachebe village, but later moved to Takawiri Island in Mfangano Division, where he is living with his mother and grandmother. David’s mother is often very sick. She is not able to work consistently. David’s grandmother has a difficult family situation as well. She was abandoned by her husband who later died. David’s grandmother works on the beaches in other’s nets, which earns her only a small amount. At times the family has only been able to afford enough porridge for one meal a day. David’s school attendance is often affected as well. He has to stay at home when his grandmother does not have the money to send him to school.

Before joining GGCC, David was learning at Takakwiri Primary School, when they could afford to send him. David was admitted to GGCC in January of 2019 in grade one as a vulnerable child. This is a great relief for his grandmother, as she knows he will get his basic needs met as well as get an exceptional education.

David gets along well with his peers. During his free time, he likes to play with his friends on the swings as well as play football.

David would like to work hard to become a doctor when he grows up. He is in good health.
