Zilpa comes from the family of three children, two boys and a girl and she is the youngest of the three. She was born in 2012 in Wasamo village, Mfangano West location. Zilpa is under the care of her mother, as her father passed away in 2017. Her mother sells second-hand shoes on a small scale in order to provide for her family. Life has been very difficult for this family since the death of Zilpa’s father.

Zilpa’s oldest brother, Ian Gabriel, was admitted to GGCC in grade 6, but as an applicant, so the mother is responsible for paying for his school fees. The second born, Larry Humphrey, is also learning at GGCC in grade 6. Due to the struggles Zilpa’s mother has in paying for the boys, Zilpa was vetted to join GGCC as an orphaned and vulnerable child. She was previously learning at Mawanga Primary School before joining GGCC in August of 2021 in grade 2.

She is so happy to join GGCC where her brothers are also learning. This has been a dream of hers. She likes the school environment, the teachers, and her fellow pupils, who are so friendly. At GGCC, she will have opportunity to learn without missing classes due to lack of school levies. Zilpa likes playing football with her peers. She would like to become a teacher when she grows up. She is in good health.
