Wycliffe O. 1891

Grade Male: Kindergarten - 8th Gr.

School Grade 2

Wycliffe is the fourth born child in a family of six children. He was born in 2014 in Soklo village, in Mfangano West location. His father passed away leaving he and his siblings under the care of their mother as the sole breadwinner. His mother is a peasant farmer. Unfortunately, this does not produce a lot of income. She sells charcoal on the side to make extra money, but this is an illegal activity and also does not generate enough income for the large family. Due to lack of steady and sufficient income in the family, Wycliffe and his siblings have suffered both physically and academically. There isn’t enough to eat at times and they have missed school when they could not afford to pay the school fees. His family is often dependent on extended relatives and well wishers to meet their most basic needs, especially when they could only afford two meals a day.

Wycliffe’s oldest sibling is Daniel Odhiambo who is in grade 11 at Karegha Mutahi Secondary School. The next brother is Steve Ochieng who is in grade 10 in Sena Secondary School. His oldest sister, Belinda Anyango is learning at Soklo Primary School in grade 7. The youngest two, Mollenter Atieno and Raymond Mark, both attend Soklo Primary School in grades 3 and 1.  Wycliffe was also learning at Soklo Primary School before joining GGCC.

Wycliffe was admitted to GGCC in 2024 in grade two as an orphaned and vulnerable child. He and his mother are very grateful to God for the opportunity granted to Wycliffe as this is a great relief for their family. Wycliffe likes the GGCC environment which is conducive for learning. He likes his teachers and fellow pupils who are so friendly.

At GGCC, Wycliffe will get all the three meals which he was missing at home. He will not miss classes again due to lack of school levies. This will help Wycliffe to concentrate on his studies and work towards his dream of becoming a teacher in the future. He will also get spiritual nourishment too. During his leisure time, Wycliffe likes playing soccer. His best subject is mathematics. He is in good health.
