School Grade 2

Vallary is the third born child in a family of four children. She was born in 2015 in Kiwari village, Mfangano West location in Mfangano Island. Both of her parents are alive although her father is often sick and unable to work. Her mother does not have a formal job either, which makes life very difficult for this family.  When her father is well, he will work for others on the beaches helping the fishermen. And Vallary’s mother will do odd jobs to help support the family, but usually their income is just not enough.

Vallary’s parents can provide her with two meals a day, but they often are not able to make the payment to keep Vallary in school full time. Vallary’s academics have suffered because of this inconsistency in attendance. She was attending Rinya Primary before joining GGCC.

Her older brother, Brighton has been able to make it grade 9 through the help of well-wishers and other relatives. The second born, Conjestina, has special needs and attends a school designed for children with special needs. The fourth born, Hamstone, is not old enough to attend school and is at home with his mother.

Vallary was admitted to GGCC in 2022 in PP2 as a vulnerable child. Her parents are very grateful to God and the administration for the opportunity granted to Vallary to learn at GGCC.  Vallary is so excited and happy to be in a boarding school and a school where she will not miss classes again due to lack of school levies and scholastic materials. She likes the school environment and plays well with her peers. She would like to become a nurse in the future. During her leisure time, she likes swimming. She in good health.
