Vallary A. 1430

Grade Female: Kindergarten - 8th Gr.

School Grade 6

Vallary was born in 2009 in Mauta village, in Mfangano South location. She is the third born child in a family of four children. Her father died when she was young and left Vallary and her siblings under the care of their mother. Vallary’s mother is epileptic and has other health challenges she faces. She is unable to work a lot and is very dependent on her brother-in-laws to help support her and the children.  They have their own families to support and do not receive a steady income, so Vallary and her family suffer greatly at times. Vallary may receive two meals a day when there is enough. She has missed a lot of school as well when her mother did not have the money to pay for it. Vallary would be sent home and it would take some time for her mother to get the money together to send her back to school.

Vallary was learning at Mauta Primary School before joining GGCC. Vallary follows in her oldest sister’s footprints, Lesphine, who graduated from GGCC. Lesphine is currently taking a beauty therapy course at St. Francis Asumbi Technical College. Vallary’s next sister, Diana, is enrolled at Mauta Secondary School in Form 2, while the youngest, Evra, has not begun her schooling yet.

Vallary was admitted to GGCC in January of 2020 in grade two as orphaned and vulnerable child. She is so excited to join GGCC. Her mother is equally grateful to God. Vallary likes the school environment, the teachers and her fellow pupils, who are so friendly.

At GGCC, Vallary will learn without interruption or fear of being sent home because of lack of school payments. This will help Vallary to concentrate in her academics and meet her life dream of becoming a nurse. Her best subjects are Kiswahili and English. She will also get all the three meals daily that she was missing back at home. During her leisure time, Vallary likes playing netball and athletics. She is in good health.
