Tonny O. 1050

Grade Male: 9th - 12th Gr.

School Grade 11

Tonny Blaire is the last born in a family of four children. He was born in 2007 in Masisi village, Mfangano North location. His father passed on and left him and his other siblings under the care of his mother who sells fish for a living. After his father’s death, Tonny’s mother moved back to their home where she is currently selling fish at one of the beaches, Konyahero.

Tonny’s elder brother, Evans Otieno, completed grade 12 exams and has not joined any college because of the financial burden that would place on his mother. The second born, Victor Okinyi. is under taking electrical course at Kisumu. Lavender Akinyi, who is the third born, completed her grade 12 exams in 2015 and is awaiting the results which are due back in February. Tonny’s mother also helps with other orphans. Providing and educating her children has not been easy as her income is not always sufficient.

Before joining GGCC, Tonny was learning at By Grace Academy in Nyakweri where he was in grade 2. He was admitted to GGCC in January of 2016 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. After going through the interview process, he was found to fit in grade 3. He is very happy to join GGCC, a school he has really longed to join.  At GGCC, he will be able to learn consistently without being sent home for tuition fees, unlike his former school. Tonny would like to become a doctor when he grows up. His best subject is mathematics. He likes playing football.

Update, November 2017:

Tonny enjoys being at GGCC but he also likes seeing his family when he is on break.  He placed 4th in his class of 45 students.  Tony enjoys his social studies class and aspires to be an engineer in the future.  He is saved and attends a Seventh Day Adventist church when he returns to his village.  In his free time, Tony loves to play soccer with his friends.
