School Grade 4

Tom was born in 2012 in Wakula Village, in Mfangano West location. He is the first-born child in a family of two children. Both of his parents are alive, but they are unable to properly care for him. Tom therefore lives with his uncle and his five children. Tom’s uncle does his best but is unable to meet the needs of such a large household. They only have two meals a day and paying for the children’s education is not a top priority when money if very scarce.

When Tom’s uncle was able to afford to send Tom to school, he was learning at Rinya Primary school. But missing classes has caused his academic performance to decline. GGCC has stepped in to offer Tom a safe place to come to school.

Tom was admitted to GGCC in 2024 in grade four as a vulnerable child. He is so excited and happy to join GGCC, a boarding school and a school of excellence. His uncle is equally happy as this is a big relief for him. Tom likes the school environment which is so conducive for learning. He likes his fellow pupils and the teachers.

At GGCC, Tom will learn without interruption of missing classes. This will help him to concentrate on his studies and achieve his life’s dream of becoming a pilot. He will get the three meals a day, which will boost his overall health as well as his academic performance. During his leisure time, Tom likes playing soccer. He is in good health.
