School Grade 12

Susan was born on January 1, 2005 in Ringiti Island of Mfangano Island, West location. She is the fourth born child in a family of five children. Her father died leaving the mother, who had no formal employment soley responsible for the care of Susan and her siblings. Her mother now owns a small food kiosk, but unfortunately is not a reliable source of income. She often does not sell enough to both feed her children and pay for their school fees.   Susan has missed school at times when there simply wasn’t enough money to pay to send her to schools. She often lacked the appropriate uniforms and school supplies.

Two of Susan’s older siblings Lencer Awuor and Nanzia Akinyi have finished college and are out on their own. The two other siblings, Hillary Okoth and Stacey Ashley attend other local schools.  Susan was learning at Kotieno Gumba Primary School where she completed her grade 8 national exams.

Susan was admitted to GGCC in August of 2021 in grade 9 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. Susan is so happy about joining GGCC. She loves the environment and how much the environment at GGCC favors academics. She also loves the teachings of the word and the Christian way of life taught at GGCC. She loves the teachers and her fellow students who are so friendly.

At GGCC, Susan will learn without missing classes and this will help her to concentrate on her studies and meet her life’s dream of becoming a lawyer. Her best subject is History. Susan is in the Environment Club. She is in good health.
