School Grade 2

Slovin is the youngest in a family of five children. She was born in 2015 in Mauta village, Mfangano South location. Both of her parents are alive; however, they are both face health challenges and get sick often.  Her father, who is the breadwinner, sells firewood and charcoal as a source of income, but this is often not enough to provide for his family. They struggle to put food on the table and to also attend to their children’s educational needs. 

Two of Slovin’s siblings, Geoffrey and Donella, both joined Mauta Mixed Secondary School in January of 2020 in grade 9. The other two, Renice and Sheryl, are enrolled at Mauta Primary School in grades 6 and 4.  Slovin was formerly learning at Mauta Primary School also in PP2, before you were invited to join GGCC. She was placed in the PP1 class and vetted as a vulnerable child.

Slovin likes the school environment and is happy to join GGCC. She is promising to work hard. Her parents are also grateful to God for granting their daughter this opportunity to learn at GGCC. This is a great relief for them. Unlike her siblings, she will have the opportunity to learn and play as young children should. She won’t be sent home from school because of school fees or lack of materials. She will get three meals a day and not worry about where the food must come from. She will have the opportunity to work towards her goal of becoming a teacher. In her free time, she like molding.
