Shadrack is the first born in a family of two boys. He was born in 2014 in Remba Island, Mfangano south location. Shadrack’s mother was not married when she had Shadrack. Shadrack’s mother does odd jobs but does not have steady income. His grandmother, who they live with, sells cereals but on a small scale. This family struggles mightily to provide both the basic needs as well as pay for the boys’ educational expenses. There were times that they only had tea as a meal. Both Shadrack and his brother Charles have also missed quite a bit of school. Their academics have suffered as a result of of the inconsistency with which they are in school.

In addition to their financial struggles, Shadrack also faces medical challenges that require ongoing treatment. His mother and grandmother are unable to get and give his medication in a timely manner. This is a major concern that can be addressed easily with have Shadrack join GGCC. The house parents and staff will make sure that Shadrack gets the appropriate medication at the proper time.

Shadrack was learning at Radier Primary school with Charles before joining GGCC. He was admitted to GGCC in August of 2021 in PP2 as a vulnerable child. His grandmother and mother are very grateful to God and the GGCC management for allowing their child to learn where he will be cared for well. His education will be uninterrupted. He will also receive proper nutrition and medication.

Shadrack would like to work hard to become a doctor when he grows up. During his leisure time, he likes playing soccer.
