Scovia was born in 2005. She is the last child in a family of eight. Her father passed away in 2012 from HIV/AIDS after a long illness and left Scovia and her other siblings under the care of her mother who has her own health challenges and does peasant farming in order to feed her family. 

Her mother is the sole breadwinner and has really struggled to raise these children from peasant farming where she sells her farm produce to provide for them. She sometimes burns charcoal and sells it just to make ends meet. Scovia and her siblings eat two meals a day.

While at home Scovia sleep in her mother’s iron roofed house which GGCC built for her after her house burned. She sleeps on a mat and cover herself with a bed sheet.

Life since GGCC:
Scovia enrolled in GGCC in January 2014 after being selected by vetting committee. After going through the interview process, she was found to fit KG1.

In GGCC Scovia has adjusted well and has made friends. She is eating well and able to study well. She is looking forward to working hard and achieving her life’s dream of becoming a teacher when she grows up.
