School Grade 12

Sarah was born on January 1, 2005 in Masisi village, Mfangano North location in Mfangano Island. She is the fourth born child in a family of six children, although one has since passed away. Her father, who was the breadwinner for the family, became sick and suffered kidney problems for more than three years before his eventual death. He also had another wife and family to care for and often there was not enough money to provide for the large family. During this time and after his death, life was not easy, and the family became dependent on their mother, who had no formal employment. She did some small-scale farming to help support her children, but this was never enough. The children often only had 1 or 2 meals a day and they missed classes when they could not afford to pay the school fees.

Thankfully at this time, three of Sarah’s older siblings (David, Evance and Bartliver) have completed high school. Her one younger sibling, Phenny Auma, is in grade PP1 at Masisi Primary School.

Sarah was also learning at Masisi Primary School before joining GGCC. She completed the 8^th grade and took the national exams scoring a very high 349 out 500 marks. This qualified her to gain admittance to GGCC. She joined the school in August of 2021 in grade 9 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. She and her mother are so grateful to the Lord and the management for considering her to learn at GGCC.

Sarah likes the school environment which is suitable for learning. She likes both her teachers and her fellow students who are so friendly. She also likes the spiritual nourishment offered at GGCC.  At GGCC, Sarah will learn without missing classes due to lack of school fees. This will help her to concentrate on her studies and be able to achieve her life’s dream of becoming a doctor. Her best subject is biology. She will also get all three meals a day, which she was missing at home.

During her leisure time, Sarah likes playing volleyball. She is in good health.
