School Grade 9

Samuel is the second born in their family. He was born in 2009 in Kakiimba village, Mfangano North location. Both of his parents are alive, but his father was jailed leaving Samwel and his siblings under the care of the mother.

Samuel’s siblings Ian, Larry and Joy are all enrolled in school.  They are learning at Kakiimba primary school.  Ian is in grade 8. Larry is in grade 2 and Joy is in KG2.

Samuels’s father has been away from home for a while due to his legal issues.  Following the father’s absence at home and the mother not working, this family has struggled to provide for the basics, like enough food for the family. Samuel’s mother does odd jobs to earn some income, but it’s never enough. School was something that fell to the wayside as Samuel’s mother could not afford to send the children regularly. They have been sent home often because they couldn’t pay or didn’t have the materials that they needed.

At home, they do stay in a semi-permanent house that the father had constructed before he was apprehended.

Samuel was learning at Kakiimba primary school before joining GGCC. He was vetted and admitted to GGCC in January of 2019 in grade 4 as vulnerable child. He is very excited to be in GGCC. He likes the school environment, the teachers and pupils who are friendly. He also has three meals a day and all of the materials he needs for school.

Samuel is going to work very hard so as become a journalist. During his leisure time, he likes playing soccer.
