Rolex O. 1466

Grade Male: 9th - 12th Gr.

School Grade 9

Rolex is the sixth born child out of seven in his family. He was born in 2009 in Soklo village, Mfangano West location. Both of his parents are alive although they have some health challenges which adds an additional burden on the family. His father, who is a peasant farmer, tills the land and sells the crops to help support his family. His mother was diagnosed with cancer and is unable to work. Rolex’s father also sells charcoal to supplement their income. Although he works hard, he often does not earn enough to meet the needs of his large family. The family may only take 2 meals a day when there isn’t enough food. Rolex and his siblings have missed school as well, when their father couldn’t afford to pay the tuition. This has hindered Rolex’s academic performance.

Before joining GGCC, Rolex was learning at Soklo Primary School in grade 6. His oldest sister, Jenipher is married and no longer at home. Wyclife is enrolled in Ramogi Institute.  Francis is learning at Mawego. Morine is in grade 11 at Karega Secondary School.  Linet is in grade 6 at Sindo Baptist Church, while the last born, Gloria, is learning at Sokolo Primary School in PP2.

Rolex was admitted to GGCC in January of 2020 in grade 5 as vulnerable child. He is so excited to join GGCC; a school he has admired so much in the past. His father is also grateful to God and the administration for the opportunity granted to his son to learn at GGCC.  This is a great relief for him.  Rolex likes the school environment. He also likes his fellow pupils and teachers who are so friendly.

At GGCC, he will learn without the interruption of being sent home due to lack of school levies or scholastic materials. Rolex would like to work hard to improve his grades and hopefully fulfill his dream of becoming a lawyer when he grows up. During his leisure time, he likes playing soccer.
