Rolex was born in 2009 in Kiwari village, Mfangano West location on Mfangano Island. He is the first born child in a family of five children. His father died after a short sickness leaving Rolex and his siblings under the care of their mother whose only source of income is as a peasant farmer. The seasonality and limited amount of crops often negatively impacts this family. Rolex’s mother is unable to provide for the children’s basic needs, not to mention their educational needs. They miss school often and have fallen behind as a result of it.

Rolex’s younger two siblings, Monica and Wilson, are learning at Kiwari Primary School in grades 1 and KG3. The fourth born, Chris, is not old enough for school yet. Rolex’s mother also cares for another child who was orphaned after the passing of both of his parents. He is also learning at Kiwari Primary School in grade 2.

Rolex was admitted to GGCC in January of 2019 in grade 2 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. He will now be able to concentrate on his school work without interruption and will also get all three meals daily. Rolex enjoys playing with his peers on the swings and also playing football.

He would like to work hard to become a teacher when he grows up. He is in good health.
