School Grade 1

Ramsey is the third born child in a family of four children. He was born in 2015 in Kiwari Village in Mfangano West location. Both of his parents are alive and working, but not in sustainable ways.  His father fishes as a source of income but does not own a boat nor fishing nets. He depends on other people’s boats. Ramsey’s mother is a peasant farmer on a small scale, which also does not generate much income. This family has faced hardships due to their level of poverty. Ramsey and his siblings missed a lot of school when they were unable to pay the school fees. A relative has stepped in to help the oldest child with her fees in hopes that she can finish high school. The family often only has enough for two meals a day.

Ramsey’s oldest sister is Faith, and she is in grade 10 at Nyamasare Girls Secondary School. Calvin is the next oldest and he attends Kiwari Primary School in grade 5. The fourth born MaryAnn is also learning at Kiwari Primary School in grade PP2.

Ramsey was learning at Kiwari Primary School before joining GGCC. He joined GGCC in February of 2023 in PP2 as a vulnerable child. He is so happy to learn at GGCC. His parents are also grateful as this is a great relief for them. Ramsey likes the school environment, which is suitable for learning. He likes his fellow pupils who are so friendly.

At GGCC, Ramsey will learn without missing classes. This will help him to concentrate on his studies to become a teacher when he grows up. During his leisure time, Ramsey likes playing football, and hide and seek games. He is in good health.
