School Grade 6

Patrice was born in 2012 in Gulwe village, in Mfangano West location. He is the first born child in a family of four children. Both of his parents are alive. The father, who is a breadwinner, is a carpenter while Patrice’s mother is a house wife. She is the second wife to his father. The first wife also has children. Both of Patrice’s parents are HIV positive. Not only does the father bring in a minimal income, but because of their HIV status, they have been sick on and off, causing them to struggle even more to provide for their family.

Patrice was learning at Gulwe Primary before joining GGCC in grade 4. His younger brothers, Joseph and Stephen, are learning at Gulwe Primary School in grades 1 and PP1.  The fourth born, Hasnel, is not old enough to attend school yet.

Patrice was admitted to GGCC in January of 2020 in grade 3 as a vulnerable child. His parents are very grateful to the administration for considering their child to join GGCC as this is a big relief to them. Patrice is happy to join GGCC as well and reports that he likes the commitment of teachers and that his fellow pupils are so loving.

At GGCC, Patrice will learn without the fear of being sent home for school levies or uniforms. He will get all three meals daily which was not always available to him at home. He will also sleep well on a bed.

Patrice would like to work hard to become a teacher when he grows up. During his leisure time, he likes playing soccer. Patrice has a problem with his ears.

Per Joyce's Feb 2023 report- Patrice transferred to another school after a family separation.

2024- He has returned to GGCC.
