Nicole Stacey is the first-born child in a family of three children. She was born in Wasiambi village, Mfangano East location in 2013. Both of her parents are alive. Her father works as a fisherman but does not own any of his own gear or boat, so he is at the mercy of those around him that are willing to let him work for them. This is not a sustainable or consistent form of income, and this family has suffered greatly because of it. In addition to their financial struggles, Nicole and both of her parents’ face health challenges as well. Nicole’s parents aren’t always able to get the medication she needs. So because of the vulnerability this family faces, Nicole was vetted to join GGCC.

Nicole joined GGCC in 2022 in grade 1. She will receive proper nutrition and medication and she will be able to concentrate on her studies. She and her parents are grateful for the opportunity to learn and live at GGCC. She can focus on her academics and work towards her goal of becoming a teacher. Her parents can also put their limited finances towards her younger sister Bianca’s education. She currently attends Misori Primary ECDE Centre and is in grade PP2. Their youngest sister, Valentina is not yet old enough to attend school.
