Nazleen who comes from Mfangano East location, Wasiambi village is the second born child in a family of two children. Her father died and left her under the care of her mother who later ran away. Nazleen and her brother, Newton, were then left under care of their aged grandmother. She also is a widow and has two of her own children to take care of.

Nazleen’s elder brother, Newton, is learning in GGCC in grade 7. The grandmother tries with a lot of difficulty to provide for the family and also to provide them with the basic necessities.

Nazleen was schooling at Repairer Christian School and was in grade three previously. She could not attend school regularly because of the lack of school tuition and this greatly interfered with her performance.

At home, she stays in her grandmother’s mud-walled and iron-roofed house.

Due to the level of vulnerability at home, Nazleen was vetted to join GGCC in KG3 in January of 2016.

Nazleen is so glad to be enrolled at GGCC, a school she has longed to join. At GGCC, Nazleen will learn without any interference of being sent home for school tuition. She will enjoy all the three meals provided daily and also sleep comfortably.

Nazleen’s ambition is to become a nurse. Her hobbies are molding, swinging, singing and telling stories.
