School Grade 9

Naomi was born in 2006 in Kakiimba village, Mfangano North location on Mfangano Island. She is the oldest child in a family of five children. Both of her parents are alive. Her father, who is the bread winner, is a peasant farmer, while her mother is a house wife. Although her father works, peasant farming is seasonal and weather dependent. Often times his meager income in not enough to provide for the basic needs of his family. He completes odd jobs when he can to supplement, but it typically is not enough to provide both food and pay for school for his children. Naomi and her siblings have all missed classes when they did not have the money to pay for school.

Naomi has two sisters, Tamar and Sarah, and two brothers, Ajer and Frank. All of her siblings are in the local primary school. Naomi was learning in Kakimba Primary School before joining GGCC. Her exemplary academic performance at her former school was enough for her to receive an invitation to join GGCC, which she joined in March of 2022. She is currently enrolled in grade 7. She and her family are so grateful to God and the management for this opportunity to learn. She knows that she will no longer miss classes for lack of payment. She will also receive three meals a day, every day. She will be able to concentrate on her studies. She has aspirations of becoming a journalist. During her leisure time, she likes playing soccer and volleyball.

Naomi is in good health and loves the Lord. She gave her life to Christ when she joined GGCC.
