Moses O. 1023

Grade Male: Kindergarten - 8th Gr.

School Grade 6

Moses is the last born in a family of four children. He was born in 2011 in Wakinga village, Mfangano East location in Mfangano Division. Moses is a partial orphan whose mother passed on in 2013 after succumbing to throat cancer. She leaves behind Moses and his sibling under the care of her husband who has a younger wife who is a peasant farmer. His father does not have any steady income but sometimes cuts and sells firewood.

Moses’ first sibling, Faith, got married at grade 6 and has a child of her own. The second born, Margaret, also dropped from school at grade 4 and also subsequently got married and has a child. Sunday, who is the third born, is learning at Sena Primary school in grade 7.

Moses’ step mother who is the care giver struggles a lot to make ends meet. Her limited income must feed and pay school levies for Moses and his sibling Sunday, but also for her own three children.  Moses’ father cuts and sells firewood to supplement their income which still is not sufficient.

Before joining GGCC, Moses was learning at Wakinga Junior Academy.

Moses was admitted to GGCC in January of 2016 in KG1 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. The step mother appreciates this so much and feels that her burden has been lightened.

At GGCC, Moses likes the learning environment. He will take all the three meals daily including an additional porridge and he will also sleep well.

Seeing new things has been very exciting to Moses. His hobby is playing soccer. He has the ambition to becoming a pilot.

Update, November 2017:

Moses in doing well at GGCC and has placed 9th in his class of 24 students.  His favorite subject is math; he still hopes to be a pilot once he finishes school.  Moses is a Christian, loves to praise Jesus and attends Power of Jesus around the World Church.  He is often sick and  must take medicine every day.  Moses is a very big fan of soccer.
