Melyne is the fourth born in a family of six. Her father died in 2009, leaving Melyne and her siblings under the care of their mother. Her mother's minimal income as a fish monger is not enough to properly care for her family. This family has struggled to make ends meet. Food is often not enough and the inability to pay for school fees, has disrupted Melyne’s learning.

Melyne was vetted to join GGCC in January of 2013. She is happy to be at GGCC and says she has "dreamed of this opportunity and promises to make the best out of it". She would like to be a lawyer. She is currently in grade 5 and works hard in the studies.
