Megan A. 1752

Grade Female: Kindergarten - 8th Gr.

School Grade 1

Megan was born in 2018 in Wasiambi Village of Mfangano East location. She is the second born child in a family of three children. Both of her parents are alive, but Megan lives with her father only. Megan’s mother left the family when she was just two years old. She has not returned to her family so her father is the breadwinner and works as a peasant farmer. Peasant farming is not a sustainable form of work as it generally doesn’t produce much income, so this family has struggled.

Because of the limited income, Megan has faced many challenges, both academically and socially associated with the family’s poverty. Megan has sometimes missed classes due to lack of school levies and scholastic materials. At times, it would take her father several days to get the money together to send her back to school. She has also lacked appropriate basic supplies as well, including a school uniform. And providing enough food for the family has also been a concern. There have been times when they were only able to take two meals a day.

Megan was learning at Lion of Judah School before joining GGCC with her two siblings. Her older sister Beryl is in grade 2, while her younger brother Shelton is in PP2.

Megan joined GGCC in February of 2023 in PP2 as a vulnerable child. Her father is so grateful, and Megan is equally happy and excited about joining GGCC. She likes her fellow pupils who are so friendly. At GGCC, Megan will no longer miss classes due to lack of school levies. She will get all the three meals she was missing at home. She will also get spiritual nourishment, which will help her grow up morally. Megan loves Kiswahili language as a subject and mathematics. She would like to work hard to become a doctor when she grows up.  During leisure time, she likes playing soccer with her peers. Megan is in good health.
