Marion was born in 2007 in Rinya village, Mfangano West location. She is the second born in a family of two children. She was born to a single mom who tragically died of HIV. She has faced additional heartbreak as her only brother has also passed away.

After the death of Marion’s mother, Marion’s grandmother took over her care. She worked, but often was gone from the home for weeks at a time for her work. Marion’s was left to fend for herself and this impacted her overall health, as she lacked proper nutrition and medication. Her grandfather stepped in to care for her. He is a retired teacher. It has still not be easy for him in taking care of Marion.

Before joining GGCC, Marion was learning at Sindo Humanist School where she was in grade four. Marion was admitted to GGCC in January of 2020 in grade 4 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. She is so happy to join GGCC. Her grandfather is also so thankful that Marion will now finally get the care she needs. At GGCC, she will learn without any interruption of being sent home for lack of school levies and other scholastic materials. She will get good care from the house parents with the proper supervision of her medications. She will get all the three meals which will boost her nutritional growth.

Marion would like to become a teacher when she grows up. Her best subjects are Mathematics, English and Social Studies. During her leisure time, she likes playing football.
