Marcos R. 1560

Grade Male: Kindergarten - 8th Gr.

School Grade 2

Marcos is originally from Kano but moved to Ringiti Island in Mfangano West location where his father worked as a fisherman. He was born on September 20th, 2016. He is the third born child in a family of four children. His father died after a long illness, leaving Marcos and his siblings under the care of their mother, who did not have a steady form of income. She works small, odd jobs, like drying saline fish or washing other’s clothes to provide for her family. Often this is not enough, and Marcos’ mother has had to rely on help from other family members who could provide a little more for the children. In addition to these hardships the family has faced, Marcos’ mother has some health challenges, which further adds to the burden this family faces.

Marcos oldest sibling, Austine, dropped out of school in grade 7. The second born, Lenice lives with a relative and is enrolled in Migori School in grade 8. Before joining GGCC, Marcos was enrolled at Ringiti Primary School in grade PP2. His youngest sibling, Holvent, is not old enough to attend school.

Marcos was admitted to GGCC in August of 2021 in PP1 as orphaned and vulnerable child. He and his mother are so grateful to God for the opportunity he has been given to learn at GGCC. Marcos likes the school environment. At GGCC, he will sleep on a real bed, will have access to three meals and all the school materials that he needs. He knows he will not miss school for lack of payment.

He would like to become a doctor when he grows up. Marcos likes ball games. He does not have any health problems.
