School Grade 7

Mackline is the last born in a family of four children. She was born on in March of 2011 at Wamai village, Wakula south sub location, Mfangano South location. Her father died leaving her under the care of her mother who is the sole breadwinner. Her mother does small business.

Mackline’s elder bother, Denis, completed his grade 12 exams at GGHS in 2016 but has decided to repeat the 12^th grade to better his scores. The second born sibling, Vivian, dropped out of school. The third born, Havillas, is learning at Wamai primary school in grade 5.

Life has not been easy for Mackline, as her mother is not able to provide all the things her family needs. Previously Mackline attended school in a torn uniform and was often sent home from school because of insufficient funds. Her confidence was shaken as her peers teased her and her grades fell.

While at home, she sleeps on a mat under a mosquito net and covers herself with a bed sheet. Before joining Gethsemane she was learning at Wamai primary school.

Mackline was admitted to GGCC in January of 2017 in KG3 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. She is happy to join GGCC where her learning will not be interrupted. She hopes to improve her academics and become a teacher. She loves playing hide and seek. 

Update, November 2017:

Mackline is doing well at GGCC and has placed 5th in her class of 34.  She loves school life, and hopes to be a high school teacher after she finishes school.  Mackline loves Jesus very much and attends Maranatha church when she goes back to her village.  Mackline gets headaches often but is thankful that she's at school and can go to the nurse when she gets sick.  She enjoys simple game such as throwing stones and kicking them around the dirt.
