Lonel O. 1293

Grade Male: Kindergarten - 8th Gr.

School Grade 5

Lonel is the youngest in a family of five children. He was born in 2011 in Masisi village, Mfangano North location. His father, who was the bread winner, and worked as a fisherman, passed away and left Lonel and his other siblings under the care of their mother who did not work outside the home. She has been sick so often that she is unable to work or do anything to support her family.

The family depends on well-wishers to provide things for their family. Most of the time they would take only two meals a day and sometimes just take porridge for lunch. Two of Lonel’s older sisters dropped out of school before reaching the 8th grade and got married. His oldest sibling, Victor, completed high school, but was dependent on the community and well-wishers to help pay for his schooling at the time. The fourth born, Francis, is currently learning at Masisi primary school in grade 8. Lonel’s mother is also responsible for her step son, who is a total orphan.

Before joining GGCC, Lonel was learning at Masisi primary school in KG 1. Lonel was admitted to GGCC in January of 2018 in KG1 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. He is so happy to join GGCC; a school he has desired to join. He is adjusting well to the new environment. At GGCC, he will enjoy all the three meals and also be able to learn without the interruptions of being sent home for levies.

Lonel would like to work hard to become an electronic engineer. He likes playing football with his peers.
