School Grade 9

Lionel was born in 2008 in Kiwari village, Mfangano West location on Mfangano Island. He is the second born child in a family of three children. Both of his parents are alive. His father, who is the breadwinner, is a fisherman, while his mother is a peasant farmer. Although both work, their income and therefore their ability to provide the most basic of needs is unreliable. At times, they have only had porridge for a meal. Other times, they may have two meals a day. And most certainly, they have missed classes when they could not afford to pay the fees to attend school.  

Lionel’s older brother, Javan is in grade 9 while his sister Kate is still in primary school. Lionel was learning in Kiwari Primary School in grade 6 before joining GGCC. Despite the inconsistency with which he attended school, he still excelled in his academics. He was invited to join GGCC and was admitted in March of 2022 in grade 7. He was given special entry admission and his parents are so grateful to God and the management for the consideration. Lionel loves the school environment, especially the boarding aspect of it in addition to the excellent quality teaching offered. He likes his fellow pupils and the teachers who are so friendly.

At GGCC, he will learn without missing classes again due to lack of school levies and scholastic materials. This will help him to concentrate on his studies and work towards achieving his dream of becoming a pilot. During his leisure time, he like playing soccer and scouting. His best subject is Mathematics. Lionel gave his life to Christ when he joined GGCC.
