School Grade 1

Kevin was born in Soklo Village in 2016. He is the sixth born child in a family of seven children. His mother died and he and his siblings are under the care of their father who is a peasant farmer. He struggles through farming to provide for his large family. Farming is seasonal and they have had a severe drought which has further added to the dire situation. There are times when they family only has enough for two meals a day. The children often missed school when there wasn’t enough money to pay the school fees to attend.

Mary who is the oldest of the seven, attends at Kakimba Secondary School and is in grade 11. The rest of his siblings attend Soklo Primary School, where Kevin also attended before joining GGCC. Two are in middle school in grades 8 and 6 respectively. The youngest three are in the primary grades.

Kevin joined GGCC in February of 2023 in PP2 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. His father is grateful, as this is a big relief. Kevin is excited about joining GGCC where he can learn without missing classes. He likes the school environment with friendly teachers and pupils. Kevin would like to work hard to become a pilot when he grows up. During his leisure time, he likes playing soccer. He is in good health.
