June O. 1265

Grade Female: Kindergarten - 8th Gr.

School Grade 8

June is the youngest child in a family of seven children. She was born in 2006 in Ugina village, Mfangano South location. Both of her parents are alive, although the father is old and has some health problems that prevent him from working. He is unable to support the family. Her mother, who is the sole breadwinner, is a small-scale farmer but mostly depends on fetching and selling firewood to earn a living.

June’s elder siblings, Nelson Mandela, Lizzy Atieno and Faith Akuku, are all married. Her other two siblings, Movin Onyango and Irine Muna are in grades 11 and 12 respectively at Uozi secondary school. The second to last born is in grade 6 at Ugina primary school.

Due to the large number of family members, June’s mother is not able to provide for all of their needs, including school fees. She used to go to school in torn uniforms, and many times she would be sent home for school levies. This greatly interfered with her learning.

Before joining GGCC, June was learning at Ugina primary school where she was in grade 3.

June was vetted to join GGA in January of 2018. She was admitted in grade two. She likes the environment and promises to work hard to achieve her dream of becoming a teacher.

June loves playing with her peers and watching volleyball games.
