James O. 1276

Grade Male: Kindergarten - 8th Gr.

School Grade 7

James was born in 2009 in Makende village, Kaksingri East location. He is the last born in their family. His father was a pastor at PEFA church in Mfangano before moving to Sigulu Island to plant another church. His mother drowned when a boat capsized on its way to church. The children were left under the father’s care until he later remarried.  Unfortunately, his father also recently died in 2017. Ibrahim and his siblings were left under the care of his step mother. She did not stay with them for long before moving to another beach taking with her own three children and leaving James and his siblings behind. An uncle, who is a cook at GGCC, took over their care.

Although James and his siblings have been staying with their uncle, life has not been easy for them.  There uncle, who is now the sole breadwinner, has six children of his own to care for. Providing education and other basic needs has really been a challenge. James would sometimes be sent home for school levies or lacking proper materials and clothes. His uncle often could not provide that for him.

James’ elder siblings, Carolyne and Nerea, are married. Nathaniel is employed at GGCC as a teacher in Gethsemane Garden Academy. Zablon is not in school or working at this time and Boaz completed grade 12 last year but is still at home. Jane and Christine, are both learning at Gethsemane Garden High school in grades 9 and 10 respectively. Ibrahim, is also learning in GGCC in grade 3.  Ibrahim was learning at Lion of Judah School before joining GGGCC.

James was admitted to GGCC in January of 2018 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. He is so excited to be at GGCC where he can learn freely and even go for night preps which was not available at his former school. He likes the school environment, the swings, and the buildings.

James would like to work hard and become a doctor when he grows up. He likes playing soccer during his free time.
