Jackline was born in 2007 in Imbo village of Siaya County. She is the youngest child in a family of seven children. Jackline’s father’s name is Benard and her mother’s name is Jane. Jackline currently lives with her mother as her father passed away in May of 2022 after suffering from leg cancer for some time. The family struggled to make ends meet even prior to Jackline’s father’s death. Jackline’s mother works as a peasant farmer, but they have struggled even more since the father’s passing. Jackline and some of her siblings have missed school when there wasn’t enough money to pay for them to attend. They have also struggled to have enough food to feed everyone properly. Jackline has been forced to work some so as to help her struggling family.

Jackline’s oldest sister is Evaline Atieno, and she is married as well as her oldest brother, Robert Ouko. Two of her brothers, Prince and John, are living in Imbo. The fourth born sibling passed away. And the sister closest in age is attending Jusa Secondary School in grade 11. Jackline was learning at Nyahera Primary School before joining GGCC.

Jackline was admitted to GGCC in 2022 in grade 9 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. Her mother is very grateful to God and to the GGCC management for the opportunity granted to Jackline to learn at GGCC. Jackline is equally thankful. She likes the school environment which is conducive for learning and the quality of education being offered at GGCC. 

While at GGCC, Jackline will not face the challenges she faced for food. She will get all the three meals. She will also not be sent home for school fees. Jackline shared that she is thankful she won’t have to work menial jobs in order to continue her education. Jackline likes reading the Bible. Her favorite subject is biology and she participates in athletics at the school. Jackline dreams about becoming a surgeon in the future.
