Iscah is the fourth born in a family of seven children. She was born in 2012 in Kisegi Gwassi. Her father drowned in the lake in 2014, leaving Iscah and her siblings under the care of their mother, who is just a peasant farmer

Iscah’s oldest brother, Steve, is learning at Uozi Secondary school in grade 11. Elly, Joyce and Fabian are learning at Uozi primary school in grades 4, 3 and 1, respectively. The second to last born is in KG1 at Kisegi primary school, while the last born is still a baby and is not old enough for school yet.

Due to the low income from farm produce, Iscah’s mother was not able to fully provide for her large family. Iscah’s grandparents stepped in to help and took over the care of Iscah and four of her siblings, moving them to Mfangano to live with them. Iscah’s grandparents are older and still struggle to pay for the needs of these children. They were responsible for paying for their school fees, which often, they did not have the funds to do so. Iscah and her siblings have been sent home for lack of payment.  

While at home, Iscah would only take 2 meals a day. She was formerly learning at Uozi primary school in grade KG2.

Iscah was vetted to join GGCC in January of 2019. She was admitted in KG2 as orphaned and vulnerable child. She is happy to join GGCC, a place where she will have access to the things she needs, including three meals a day and uninterrupted time at school and just being a kid.

Iscah is in good health and plays well with her peers. Being young, she still does not know what she would like to become in future.
