School Grade 8

Hamprey is the second born child in a family of four children. He was born in June of 2012 in Ramba village, Mfangano North location in Mfangano Division. Both of his parents are alive. His father works by fishing in other’s nets, but he also struggles with alcohol and therefore does not help the support the family as he should. Hamprey’s mother sells groceries but on a very small scale. She is often left with caring for the children on her own and the little income that she generates along with her husband is not enough to support their family. Hamprey has missed school often because there was not money to send him. He also often stays with his grandmother when he is at home.

Hamprey’s older sister, Faith, does not receive any help from his father because she is not his child. So when the mother can send her to school, she attends a local high school and is in grade 9. The third born, Felix, is learning at Shalom Christian Centre, while the fourth born, Stella is enrolled in Ramba Primary School in grade PP2.  Hamprey was also learning in Ramba Primary School before joining GGCC.

Hamprey was admitted to GGCC in August of 2021 in grade 5 as a vulnerable child. He is so excited to join GGCC; a school he has admired. His mother is equally grateful to God and the management for vetting Hamprey to learn at GGCC, as this is a big relief for her.  Hamprey loves the school environment, the teachers and his fellow pupils, who are so friendly. At GGCC, he will not miss his classes due to lack of school levies. This will help him to concentrate on his studies and work toward become a doctor in future.  His best subjects are mathematics, home science and music. During his leisure time, he likes playing soccer with his fellow pupils. He is in good health.
