School Grade 9

Gabriel is the fourth born in a family of seven children. He was born in 2004 in Wasamo village, Mfangano West location. His father passed on in 2013 leaving his mother who does not have any steady income as the sole breadwinner. This triggered many challenges for the children academically as the children would be sent away from school for levies. They would spend a week away from school which resulted in poor performance. Due to the hard life, sometimes the family takes only two meals daily.

His elder sibling, Stephen, completed grade 8 and is supposed to join grade 9 this year. The second born, Pamela, is learning at Wasamo primary school in grade 7.  Maxwel who is the third born, is learning in Walgosi primary school in Karachuonyo in grade 6. Rinter and Daniel are both learning in Wasamo primary school in grades 1 and KG1 respectively while Ferguson who is the last born is still a baby and not school age.

While at home Gabriel helps his mother rearing the goats and fetching water after school.

Gabriel sometimes complains of stomachache, amoebiasis and dented teeth.

Before joining GGCC, Gabriel was learning at Wasamo primary school where he was in grade two.

Gabriel was admitted to GGCC in January 2016 in grade 1 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. It is a great relief to his mother and she is so grateful to the Lord and to GGCC for considering her son. Gabriel is so excited to join GGCC.

At GGCC, he will be able to get all the three meals daily and sleep well. He will also enjoy learning without any interruptions of being sent home for school levies and hence concentrate on his academics.

His ambition is to become a teacher when he grows up. His best subjects are Mathematics and Christian Religious Education. His hobby is playing soccer and bantam.
