Fred D. 1498

Grade Male: Kindergarten - 8th Gr.

School Grade 4

Fred was born in 2010 in Takawiri village. He is the second born in a family of three children. He is a partial orphan. His father died and left Fred and his siblings under the care of their mother. At the time, Fred’s mother did not have any form of income and she was forced to move back to the area that she grew up in. She left her children under the care of their maternal grandmother who is also widowed. She works as a fish monger, but this is seasonal and small scale. It often does not generate enough income to take care of all of the children. Taking only two meals a day and missing classes because his grandmother couldn’t afford to pay the fees were common occurrences for this family. Fred shares a mattress and blanket with his siblings in his grandmother’s shelter.

Fred’s older sister, Jenevive, is in grade 3 at Takawiri Primary School and his younger brother, Denzel, is in a baby class. Fred was previously learning in Takawiri Primary School before joining GGCC, but due to the financial constraints and lack of steady income, Fred was admitted to GGCC in January of 2020 in PP2 as orphaned and vulnerable child. He is so happy to join GGCC. His grandmother is also so happy as this is a big relief to her.

At GGCC, Fred will learn without any interruption, will get three meals a day and will be able to concentrate on his studies. He would like to be a police officer when he grows up.  During his leisure time, he likes playing soccer with his peers.
