School Grade 4

Francis was born in 2012 in Sena village, Mfangano East location. He is the youngest child in a family of three children. His father died leaving Francis and his siblings under the care of their mother who later deserted them and is at large.  This has really impacted the children and their mental well-being. Their maternal grandmother has taken them in, along with some other grandchildren and she does her best to care for the children. However, she does not have any steady income and cannot provide for their basic needs, much less their educational needs. They take two meals a day when they can and drink untreated lake water.

When they are able to attend school, the oldest child, Diana, attends Kakiimba Secondary School and is in Form 3. The second born, Jared is enrolled at Ramba Primary School where he is in grade 5. Francis was learning at Ramba Primary also before joining GGCC.

Francis was admitted to GGCC in January of 2020 in PP2 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. His grandmother is so grateful to God and to the administration for granting her grandchild this opportunity to learn in GGCC.  Francis likes the school environment, the teachers and his fellow pupils who are so friendly.

Francis will now learn without any interruption of being sent home for school levies and other scholastic materials. He will get all the three meals daily which he was not getting in his home. Francis would like to become an Engineer when he grows up.. His best subjects are Kiswahili, Science and English. He is in good health.
