Fortune was born in 2005 in Wakinga village, Mfangano East location, Mfangano Division. He is the oldest child in a family of two children. His father passed away in 2005 when he was still young and left he and his sibling under the care of his mother. Fortune’s mother left with the younger child in 2013 to an unknown destination and has not been back since. An uncle graciously stepped in to take over the care of Fortune. However, this family has no steady means of income and has been struggling to meet their basic needs.

Fortune was admitted to GGCC in January of 2016 in KG3 from Sena primary school as an orphaned and vulnerable child. He is so happy to join GGCC where he will get quality education and get three meals daily. Fortune’s uncle is grateful for this opportunity for him.

Fortune likes playing soccer and hide and seek. His future aspiration is to become an engineer.

Update December 2017- Fortune has moved to live with his grandmother. Her only source of income at this time is helping others pull their fishing nets in, which pays very little. 

Fortune loves to learn, especially the English language. He says when he is home, there is not a place or time to study. He dreams of being a pilot when he finishes school.
