School Grade 8

Felix is the last born in a family of eight children. He was born in 2006 in Kiwari village, Mfangano West location. His father died and the responsibility to care for the family fell to the mother, who is just a peasant farmer.

Felix’s four older siblings are all married, while the fifth born, Gabriel, completed his grade 12 exams in 2017 and has yet to join a college. The sixth born, Pamela, is at St. Martin Youth Polytechnic, while the second to last born, Naomi, is in grade 8 in Homa Bay. Before joining GGCC, Felix was learning at Kiwari primary school in grade 3.

With the limited income the mother earns, she is not able to provide for Felix’s educational needs. He was frequently sent home for school levies, had worn out uniforms, and no shoes. He was often picked on because he didn’t have the appropriate things for school.  All of this contributed to his poor performance in school.

Felix joined GGCC in January of 2018 as an orphaned and vulnerable child in grade 2. He is very happy to join GGCC. He likes the school environment and says that the pupils are friendly. He is hopeful that he will perform well as he will be able to learn without any interference.

He is promising to work hard to become a doctor in the future.

During his leisure time, Felix likes playing football and volleyball with his peers.

Felix has a few health concerns, including problems with his eyes and ears.
