School Grade 12

Fabian was born in 2004. He is the only child in the family. His father and mother passed away in 2005 and 2010 respectively leaving Fabian while he was still young. His father who was a teacher in one of the private nursery school passed on after a long illness. After his mother’s death, Fabian was cared for by his uncle who is a peasant farmer and who also has children of his own.

Fabian is an optimistic child and this is what prompted his uncle to allow him to stay. His uncle sells farm produce in order to care for Fabian and his other children. It has not been easy for the uncle to keep up with the school levies for the children. Sometimes Fabian would be sent home from school until the levies could be paid. This very much interfered with his performance.

Fabian was enrolled in GGCC in January 2014 after being selected by vetting committee. He is in Grade one.

In GGCC he sleeps in a dry and adequate dormitory on a bed with a mattress and cover himself with a blanket. He is very happy to be at GGCC, a place he longed for where he can learn without the interruption of being sent home and where he is assured of 3 meals a day.

He is a very hard working and bright boy who would like to become an engineer when he grows up. His best subject is Mathematics.

Fabian loves playing football.
