Eudice was born in 2006 and comes from Masisi village of Mfangano Island. She is the second born child in a family of two children. Her father’s name is Samwel and her mother’s name is Millicent. Eudice currently lives with her guardian Janet who is her stepmother. Eudice is a partial orphan as her father passed away in 2021 from kidney failure, and her mother is paralyzed and unable to care for her. Eudice’s stepmother works as a peasant farmer to help provide for Eudice as well as her own children. However, she struggles to provide enough food for three meals a day as well as pay for Eudice’s education.

Eudice has missed classes when they could not afford to send her. Her academics suffered because of the interruptions in attendance.  With the help of extended relatives, Eudice’s older sister, Sara, has made it to college in Kisumu. Eudice was learning at Masisi Primary School prior to joining GGCC in 2022.

Eudice was admitted to grade 9 as a partial orphan and vulnerable child.  While at GGCC, Eudice will not face the challenges she faced concerning attending classes, nor will she struggle with having enough food. Eudice shared she now has hope that she didn’t have before. Eudice likes singing and her favorite subject is Kiswahili language. She also like to play volleyball. Eudice would like to become a journalist in the future.
