Debra was born in 2010 in Kaswanga Village, of Mfangano Island. She is the second born in a family of four children. She lives with both of her parents. Debra’s father works as a landscaper at GGCC and goes fishing to provide for his family. Debra’s mother is a stay-at-home mom.

Debra’s siblings include Byron Otieno in Form 3 at Luoro Mixed, Rihanna Barbra in Grade 4 at Kakrigu Primary School and Desla Lelia in Grade 4 at Anointed Vessels School.

Before joining Gethsemane in grade 9, Debra went to Kakrigu Primary School.

Debra’s father works hard to try to provide for his family, including paying school fees for his children. His limited income is stretched very thin in order to take care of his family and at times is simply not enough. There have been times when the family only has two meals a day.

Debra loves English as a subject and loves how her teachers take time to help her understand. She likes the school environment, which is so conducive for learning. She likes her fellow students and teachers who are so friendly.

Debra would like to work hard to become a doctor in the future. During her leisure time, Debra likes playing soccer and swimming. She is in good health.
